LEXINGTON, KY (December 10, 2024) –– The Wallflowers, led by Jakob Dylan, will perform at Lexington Opera House on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. For the past 30 years, the band has stood as one of rock’s most dynamic and purposeful bands – a unit committed to blending timeless songwriting and storytelling with a powerful, modern sound. From their breakthrough album Bringing Down the Horse to their latest release Exit Wounds, The Wallflowers continue to evolve while staying true to their signature style.
Jakob Dylan, who has worked on solo projects and film in recent years, collaborating with artists ranging from Neil Young and Eric Clapton to Beck and Fiona Apple, returns with a fresh lineup and a new album, Exit Wounds. Although it’s been nine long years since we last heard from the band with whom he first made his mark, The Wallflowers are silent no more. Dylan always knew they would return. “The Wallflowers is much of my life’s work,” he says simply. “Plus,” he adds with a laugh, “it’s pretty hard to get a good band name, so if you have one, keep it.”
Dylan continues, “It’s just exciting to have guys playing in a room together. That’s how you get the one plus one equals three factors, you know? That’s the magic.” For Dylan, Exit Wounds is the next chapter in a career devoted to chasing – and capturing – that magic. Throughout the album, Dylan’s lyrics are specked with images of spears and swords and battle-worn flags being raised. “I came up in an era of great rock ‘n’ roll bands making great music, and it’s the way I always imagined I would do it one day,” he says. “So that’s always been my vision with the Wallflowers – to be a great rock ‘n’ roll band. And I’ve worked on it for 30 years now and I still have a lot to say. It’s something I started a long time ago, and it’s far from finished.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting at 10 A.M. on Friday, December 13 at ticketmaster.com, lexingtonoperahouse.com, or in person at the Central Bank Center Box Office from 12-4 P.M. on Wednesdays and Fridays.
