Kentucky Unemployment Update During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Gov. Andy Beshear is loosening Kentucky’s unemployment insurance rules in light of the corornavirus pandemic.   The state’s unemployment changes:

  • Waiving the waiting period to obtain unemployment insurance benefits
  • Work search requirements also waived while the state of emergency is in effect

“We know the steps we are taking are going to cause people to lose their jobs,” Beshear said. “We want you to be able to qualify for unemployment and we don’t want to create impediments that keep you from being able to get through this.”

Kentuckians can apply for unemployment insurance benefits at kcc.ky.gov.
